Once upon a time, I was a young ambitions Senior Patrol Leader of a small Boy Scout Troop in rural Indiana. I like many of our scouts attended Troop Leadership Training and began to hear and learn about leadership. I asked myself at that time, what is a good leader?

Leadership in the Troop is not about the patch. It is about a choice to lead. It is about a choice to give rather than receive. We trust effective leaders because they care deeply about others and helping them succeed.

I am very proud of the young leaders we have in Troop 54. They dedicated themselves to attending special training to improve themselves.... but more importantly improving their ability to lead others and help other succeed.

So this is my thank you and encouragement to continue your servant leadership to others. You are making a signficant impact in the lives of young men.
