Wilderness Survival
Hundreds of people become lost in the wilderness each year. A few of them survive and of those few, the factors of how the survived are common in many ways.

Baden Powell said that scouting is a game with a purpose. We teach Wilderness Survival for the purpose of preparing our scouts for circumstances which hopefully none or few will ever have to experience. Those of our scouts who find themselves in those unfortunate circumstances will be more prepared than most all of their non-scouting peers and therefore will have a higher likely hood to survive.

But of course! It is still a game remember? We are going to have fun learning wilderness survival concepts and topics. It is the safest environment that anyone can become aquainted and comfortable with those circumstances.

I hope you will join us on our Wilderness Survival campout coming up here at the end of September.

Yours in Scouting,

Paul Beets
